Library Review

The library is a wonderful place you can get books out or reserve them. Sue is a really nice person. You can ask her about books she will tell you in an instant about them or anything about the library. The library has non fiction and fiction, if you’re into Greek mythology I recommend the Percy Jackson series. If you are into adventure and mysteries I recommend the 39 clues series. You could do your library award (ask Sue for information) you can do a quiz or check out the library blog. It’s quiet and peaceful if you make noise or play games and don’t do what your meant to you will be kicked out. There is a lot of nice art work and pictures on the walls.

Come to the library and have a look around it’s a great place to be.

The Hunger Games
By Suzanne Collins

This book is the first of a three book series: The Hunger Games, The Hunger Games Catching Fire and The Hunger Games Mocking Jay. This book is set in the future in a country called Panem which used to be North America. There are twelve districts and then ‘The Capitol’. Originally there where thirteen districts though in a battle against ‘The Capitol’ district thirteen was destroyed. It is about a girl called Katniss Everdeen and her sister Primrose Everdeen. The Hunger Games is a terrifying reality show where twelve boys and twelve girls are picked out randomly from a large glass ball-one girl and one girl from each district. When you turn 12 your name is instantly put in once to the ball. Each year your name is added one more time until you turn eighteen and are too old to compete any longer. When Primrose is picked out, Katniss volunteers to take her place.

I like this book because it is full of action and adventure. I would recommend this book to any one that enjoys action-packed books.

Kobe Luke who is on her Bronze award has written this Book report on a book called Matilda By Roald Dahl.

Matilda is a little girl who lives in a world of her own and finds out that she was adopted and is now living with her step-father,mother and brother.Her mum and dad start her in a new school and she meets mrs truncbull the principal.And her and her teacher (miss honey) play tricks on Mrs trunchbull.

I reccomend this book for people that like funny, interesting stories. I think that younger people from the age of 7 to 12 would enjoy this exciting outgoing and funny book. I would rate it 7/10.

NZ Lit Quiz.

Today 9 year 7 and 8 students went to Seatoon school to compete at the Wellington Literceay quiz. There were two teams called Muritai 1 and Muritai 2. We did very well with Muritai 2 getting a total of 62 points and Muritai 1 scored a total of 60 points. Unfortunately neither teams got through the the national finals at parliment. At the national finals the top team will be sent to the capital of Scotland with 10,000 dollars spending money!!!

Sun-Sational Summer Safari Reading Club

Do you want to have fun in the summer?

The Eastbourne Library is opening an awesome party to all of those
readers out there. All you have to do is go to the Eastbourne
Library, ask to sign up and then read away!

Each time you read 15 minutes you tick off a box.
When you reach 5 Hours you go to the Library and choose an awesome
prize, thats just waiting for you!
After you reach this stage you get a ticket to the party which
will be held in Huia pool.

There will be food and loads more, so I guess you'll have to read
and you'll find out!
The club will start on the 16th of December!

Sue is a great librarian, and the library wouldn't be the same without her. Running the library is a hard job, and Sue does it really well.

Children from years 5-8 are able to do Library Awards at Muritai School at lunchtime on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. When they finish a certain amount of tasks set by Sue, they recieve their Bronze Award. Then they do another set of tasks, and get their Silver Award. Finally, they do ANOTHER set of tasks, and get their Gold Award. Once they recieve that, they are free to open the library by themselves on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday lunchtimes. Not so long ago Emily Martin, Holly cumming, Meg Sykes and Hazel Sisson were awarded a Merit award for their help in the library. However Emily also got the final award, the gold.

It will not be very long untill there are some more awards!!!

Book of the month

The book of the month for November is No Safe Harbour by David Hill.This book is suited for ages 9 to 12. Here is a bit about the book.
15 year old Stuart and his twin sister Sandra is headed for Wellington by themselves but it is the 10th of April 1968 and they're on the Wahine.

The book of the month for ages 5 to 9 is Herb The Vegetarian Dragon by Jules Bass.
When Nicole first meets Herb she thinks he's going to eat her.Then she discovers he's a vegeterian. But when the meat-eating dragon, Meathook comes to town they have to use their friendship to save Herb.

Do you want to have your writing shown to all of the viewers on the web?
Well if you are a Muritai student from year 3 to year 8 all you have to do is write a short story (50 words) about an event. It could be a funny, adventurous, true or even a made up story, it is your choice!
There will be 3 winners. 1 for the year threes, 1 for the year fours to sixs and 1 for the year sevens and eights.
The three winners will win a prize from the library prize box, which right now is
FULL!
The winners will be told at the start of December!
Give your entrys to Sue in the library. She will put your story in a box ready for when we choose the winners.

Library Rules

We all know the library RLZ(!!!!!) but here are some important guidelines you have to follow.

Keep your voices down. Remember, others are trying to read.
No running or messing around in the library.
Keep your food and drink outside.
Only come into the library if it is open.
Wait your turn to issue your books.
At lunch time only come into the library through the outside door beside room 15.
